SM Foundation turned over the renovated Naval Station Julhasan Arasain (NSJA) Medical and Dental Dispensary to the Philippine Navy during a ceremony in Rawis, Legazpi City.

The wellness-focused project continues SM Foundation’s longstanding partnership with the Armed Forces of the Philippines, having refurbished  43 AFP health centers since their first collaboration in 2009.

Facility upgrades in NSJA medical and dental dispensary

The renovation modified the dispensary’s layout to improve patient flow and working conditions.

Upgrades include newly refurbished examination rooms, consultation areas, a minor surgical room, specialized equipment areas, pharmacy facilities, and various administrative facilities to foster collaboration.

The dental dispensary also underwent extensive modifications, expanding the space for dental chairs while adding a dedicated infection control area, a radiography section, and a prosthodontics section.

The renovation addresses the healthcare needs of both military families and civilian populations in nearby Barangays Rawis and Bogtong, over 15,000 patients combined.

SM Foundation’s continued mission in healthcare

The new facility is the 217th renovation completed under SM Foundation’s Wellness Center Program.

The program operates as one of the two components of the foundation’s health and medical programs, working to complement the organization’s Medical Mission Program.

This advances SM Foundation’s mission, which focuses on enhancing healthcare accessibility, improving patient experience, strengthening healthcare systems, promoting wellness services, and building the capabilities of healthcare workers.

The renovated facilities are also designed to meet the guidelines of PhilHealth and the Department of Health (DOH), enabling expanded service capabilities and compliance with accreditation standards.
