Created in collaboration with Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), the collection is all about bringing hope to vulnerable children through beautiful, art-filled gifts.
The limited-edition collection features unique designs by Ang INK, the country’s leading collective of children’s illustrators. Hiraya is a Filipino term that signifies deep hope and aspiration and the collection paints an image of a happy childhood every child deserves to experience.
“This is our first time releasing an all-occasion line of cards, as we usually launch our greeting cards during the Christmas season,” said Carmen Gonzalez Ortiz, UNICEF Philippines Chief Private Sector Fundraising. “We are constantly looking for creative and meaningful ways to drive more support for children. The Hiraya Collection is a perfect example of how art and advocacy can come together to tell stories of children all year round and promote life-changing programs that will bring them a step closer to a brighter future.”
Creativity for a Cause
Each collectible design is inspired by Ang INK artists’ fondest childhood memories, turning every item into a meaningful gift that connects, celebrates, and gives hope.
Iori Espiritu, a ceramic artist and illustrator, designed the “Sama-Sama, Salo-Salo,” which shows children gathering ingredients for a meal, reflecting her hope for children to have proper nutrition or to have access to healthy food.
Kat Melo, designer and illustrator, draws from her own childhood memories with her piece called “Sayaw ng Santan.” It captures a moment of playfulness and carefreeness she remembers, weaving together images of children dancing and making bracelets from flowers.
Al Estrella, a full-time grade school teacher and an illustrator, chose the subject of education, titling his piece “Pangalawang Tahanan” or “Second Home.” He believes that learning can happen inside and outside the school and that classrooms are children’s second home. “I believe that education is an important part of youth and it is their right to have quality education,” said Estrella.
