Metro Retail Stores Group Inc. (MRSGI) has been recognized for the second consecutive year by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD), reaffirming its strong commitment to good corporate governance and ethical business leadership.

The Golden Arrow Awards are based on the ASEAN Corporate Governance Scorecard (ACGS) and Corporate Governance Scorecard (CGS) assessments, which evaluate listed firms on how well they protect shareholder rights, promote transparency, engage stakeholders, and ensure the board’s strategic oversight.

Earning the recognition for a second time reflects MRSGI’s ongoing efforts to institutionalize good governance across all levels of its operations. It highlights the company’s dedication to aligning with global best practices while nurturing trust among investors, employees, and customers.

“We are honored to once again be recognized by the ICD. Earning our second award underscored MRSGI’s steadfast pursuit of governance excellence, guided by our values of integrity and responsibility,” said Sherisa P. Nuesa, Chairperson of the MRSGI Board and Fellow and Lecturer of ICD. “This recognition strengthens our resolve to continuously improve our systems and ensure that we operate with the trust and confidence of our stakeholders.”

Through its governance framework, MRSGI continues to uphold policies and practices that advance its sustainability and governance initiatives, ensuring that ethics remain central to its growth strategy.

Through the Golden Arrow Awards, the ICD encourages Philippine corporations to continuously elevate their governance practices and transparency. MRSGI’s recognition for a second year highlights its consistency in meeting these standards and its ongoing efforts to contribute to a more sustainable and accountable corporate sector.

To date, Metro Retail operates a total of 79 branches across Luzon and the Visayas under the formats Metro Supermarket, Metro Department Store, Super Metro Hypermarket, Metro Value Mart, and Metro Home Improvement and Lifestyle. In line with its commitment to sustainable growth and strong corporate governance, MRSGI continues to expand its retail network.

For two consecutive years, MRSGI ranks in the Fortune Southeast Asia 500 list of the region’s largest companies in revenue terms. This is a testament to MRSGI’s dedication to customer excellence, collaborative partnerships, and sustainability initiatives.
