via Graphic Plus — Two students from the southernmost tip of Palawan earned international recognition after bagging medals at the 2026 International Math Challenge (IMC) – Global Round, held at Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand.
Kian Klyde S. Cacananta (Grade 4R) and Kristina Margaux T. Taleon (Grade 6S) of Leonides S. Virata Memorial School (LSVMS) in Bataraza, Palawan, won silver and bronze medals, respectively, in the Final Round after competing against 289 participants.
To qualify for the Global Round, the duo competed against 12,960 participants from 117 countries in the Online Round of the IMC, ranking within the top 45 percent and securing their place to compete against the world’s top-performing students.
“With the support of NAC, RTNFI, our parents, and driven by the passion and determination of our students, this achievement is a source of immense pride for the entire school community,” said LSVMS Principal Marilou Madalogdog. “Our learners are truly blessed to grow and thrive in an environment enriched by the generous support and facilities provided by our valued donors.”
Now in its 15th edition, the International Math Challenge Global Round is a prestigious competition that brings together top-performing students from around the world to compete, connect, and celebrate academic excellence.
