Ambassador ENDO Kazuya meets with DENR Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna

On 11 May 2026, Ambassador ENDO Kazuya paid a courtesy call on the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Secretary Juan Miguel Cuna at the DENR Central Office in Quezon City. 

Ambassador Endo extended his congratulations to Secretary Cuna on his recent appointment and expressed his appreciation for the Secretary’s past cooperation with Japan during his previous roles within the DENR.  

The meeting highlighted opportunities to deepen cooperation on The Joint Crediting Mechanism (JCM) for GHG emission reductions, clean energy, and responsible resource management. Both sides expressed optimism for strengthened collaboration in advancing climate action and protecting natural ecosystems for future generations.

Ambassador Endo’s visit reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to environmental protection, climate resilience, and sustainable development. During the meeting, Secretary Cuna updated the Ambassador on the status of the Navotas Sanitary Landfill incident after the dispatch of the Japan Disaster Relief Expert Team. The two officials also discussed follow-up cooperation on waste management as well as the upcoming state visit to Japan of President Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.
