Helping Filipinos Live Healthier Lives a Decade On

VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | MANILA, PHILIPPINES (September 2026) — As more Filipinos take a longer-term view of their health and financial well-being, protection solutions that can support them through life’s uncertainties continue to play an important role. For Sun Life Philippines, this enduring need is reflected in SUN Fit and Well, its comprehensive health protection and life insurance plan, which continues to help Clients prepare for health-related challenges 10 years after its launch.

As of June 2026, more than 230,000 SUN Fit and Well policies have been sold, with over PHP 600  million in claims paid to Clients and their families.

Introduced in 2016, SUN Fit and Well was designed to help Clients prepare for health-related  uncertainties through protection that supports different stages of the health journey, from  prevention and diagnosis to treatment and recovery. A decade later, its continued sales  momentum reflects how health protection has become an essential part of long-term financial  planning, especially as more Filipinos recognize the financial impact that serious health  challenges can have on individuals and families.

“For many Filipinos, health challenges are not only physically and emotionally difficult but can  also bring significant financial strain,” said Daureen Andal, Chief Product Solutions Officer of Sun  Life Philippines. “The continued demand for SUN Fit and Well affirms that Clients see the value  of preparing ahead. More importantly, the claims we have paid over the years show how  protection becomes tangible support when Clients and their families need it most.”

The plan’s performance also mirrors a broader shift in how Filipinos view health protection. The  onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 heightened awareness of the need to secure both  health and finances, and demand for SUN Fit and Well began to gain momentum in the years  that followed. This sustained relevance underscores the role of health protection not simply as a  financial product, but as a way to help Clients preserve their financial security while focusing on  recovery and well-being.

SUN Fit and Well’s holistic design gives Clients access to benefits that support different health  needs, including coverage for covered critical illnesses, hospital income benefits, preventive  wellness benefits, and financial support for recovery. By addressing both the medical and  financial dimensions of health-related challenges, the plan continues to help Clients face life’s  uncertainties with greater confidence.

“Health protection remains relevant because the need to care for ourselves and the people we  love does not change,” Andal said. “As SUN Fit and Well continues to support more Filipinos, we  remain committed to providing solutions that help Clients build a brighter future and prepare  for life’s unexpected moments.”
