Creators Can Soon Make Games Available as Standalone Apps Across Mobile, PC and Consoles; Reach Players Instantly In-Browser; and Gain Faster, More Flexible Access to Their Earnings
VIA GRAPHIC PLUS — Roblox Corporation (NYSE: RBLX) recently held its 12th annual Roblox Developers Conference (RDC), an invite-only event for its creator community of developers, artists, designers, brands, and influencers, held in San Mateo, Calif. The event marked 20 years of platform innovation and brought a wave of updates spanning three areas: Play, Build, and Grow.
- Play Roblox Everywhere: creators will soon be able to launch games as standalone apps across mobile, PC, and consoles
- Play on the Web: in-browser play via Chrome by year-end, no install required, launching from a game’s Experience Details Page
- Play Offline: single-player and offline sessions, combinable with online modes in one game
- New game formats: expanded engine support for 2D and puzzle games (orthographic camera, sprite-sheet import), plus new UI features and a notification system for async multiplayer
- Cross-game connection: a new Friends chat tab that follows players across games, plus voice typing
Build: Expanding the Game Engine and AI Creation
- Build (prompt-to-game tool) expands to public alpha in Singapore and Serbia, following its New Zealand alpha; creators have published roughly 9,000 games since launch, 71% from first-time Roblox Studio users
- Scene Generator: prompt-to-scene functionality arriving later this year in Build and Studio – arriving later this year
- Expanded NPC capabilities, including NPCs that can playtest, by year end
Grow: A New Chapter for Creator Monetization and Game Discovery
- Roblox Wallet: a financial account for creators to earn in real currency, get paid daily, and move funds; rolling out later this year to eligible U.S. creators 18+, expanding globally next year
- Roblox Card: connected to Wallet, rolling out next year
- Moments tab (watch-to-play gameplay videos) now fully available in the U.S., with more features coming
- Discovery Ranking: Updated discovery ranking system optimizing for both younger and older player engagement patterns, and testing optimization for direct player growth

- August 27 – Dream Racers launch: Developer Studsy launched Dream Racers, an AI-built racing game showcasing Roblox’s 4D “Cube” technology
- September 2 – Roblox Fall Games Preview: An early look at 10 standout games coming to Roblox this fall, from creators across the Jumpstart and Incubator programs, spanning genres from tactical shooters and horror to racing, RPGs, and cozy sims, with embargoed outreach planned where possible. - September 8 – Roblox 20th Classic Mode & UGC Items: Players can now opt into a limited-time anniversary theme in their device settings, bringing the classic Roblox logo, colors, and font back to the app. Special 20th anniversary UGC items are also available for players to collect as the celebration gets underway.
- September 12 – 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards (RIAs): Roblox capped off RDC by announcing the winners of the 2026 Roblox Innovation Awards, celebrating the developers, artists, and studios that pushed what’s possible on Roblox this year, including Best Shooter (RIVALS by Nosniy Games), Best Studio (Nosniy Games), and the People’s Choice and Builderman Award winner, Animal Hospital. - September 17 – The Hunt: Roblox 20: Roblox’s flagship 20th-anniversary event, running through September 28. Themed “The Classic Meets Mega Hunt,” the event centers on a Hub where players unlock all 20 years of Roblox history in chronological order, with portals leading to the top-visited game from each year. Each game rewards players with a themed UGC item, and top performers earn exclusive UGC.
