TECNO unveils CAMON SLIM 5G celebrating Filipino Women who make life lighter

More than a smartphone launch, TECNO transformed the debut of CAMON SLIM 5G into a living fashion editorial, bringing together technology, Filipino design and the real stories of women behind “Make It Lighter.

VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | MANILA, Philippines (October 1, 2026) — What if a smartphone launch looked less like a technology presentation and more like the cover of a fashion magazine brought to life?

TECNO introduced the new CAMON SLIM 5G in the Philippines through “MAKE IT LIGHTER: The Living Cover Runway,” a fashion-led launch experience that placed modern Filipino women—their style, ambitions, everyday roles and personal stories—at the center of the stage.

Rather than presenting CAMON SLIM 5G only through specifications and product demonstrations, TECNO turned the evening into a visual story around the idea of “Make It Lighter.” The concept reflects both the new smartphone and the women it was created for: a device that is exceptionally slim and easy to carry, yet built with the capability to keep up with full, fast-moving everyday lives.

For Filipino women who move between work, commutes, family, friendships, passions and personal goals, “lighter” does not necessarily mean having less to do. Sometimes, it means finding smarter ways to carry what matters. And on this night, that idea took the runway.

Not Models. Living Covers.

The centerpiece of the launch was The Living Cover Runway, featuring 15 women from different backgrounds, professions and stages of life.

They included celebrities and creators, but also entrepreneurs, working mothers, businesswomen, women in technology, community builders and other real Filipinas whose stories extend far beyond a single title.

The runway was designed around one simple idea: every woman becomes the cover of her own story. Instead of walking the stage simply as models, each woman entered with her name and identity introduced on the LED screen. As she moved down the runway carrying the CAMON SLIM 5G, a short narration introduced part of her personal journey—what she does, what she carries in life, and what making life “lighter” means to her.

15 Women, 15 Different Definitions of Strength

There was intentionally no single definition of the “CAMON woman.”

Solo working mom and advertising professional Ely Halig brought a different perspective. A breadwinner and competitive padel player, her story is about discovering that motherhood does not require a woman to make herself smaller. For her, making life lighter means continuing to create room for her career, her daughter and the parts of herself that remain entirely her own.

Twinkle Dimayuga, meanwhile, transformed her experience as a solo mother into community action, eventually helping build MAMA — Mothers Advocating through Ministry and Action. Her story gives another meaning to “lighter”: knowing that strength does not always mean doing everything alone, and sometimes begins by allowing others to become part of the solution.

The runway also featured women whose stories explore reinvention, creativity, identity and growth—alongside personalities including Aubrey Miles, Carlyn Ocampo, Fuschia Anne Ravena, Max Collins and Megan Young.

Leading the finale was Megan Young, actress, host and Miss World 2013. Her journey across pageantry and entertainment reflected the evening’s celebration of women who continue to grow beyond a single title. Her Living Cover moment brought together the confidence, style and sense of possibility at the heart of the launch.

Together, they turned the runway from a traditional celebrity fashion moment into something closer to a moving portrait of modern Filipina life.

Burgundy Red Becomes a Fashion Language

The fashion direction of the evening was built around Burgundy Red, the hero color of CAMON SLIM 5G. All 15 runway looks used burgundy as a common visual thread, but each was interpreted differently according to the woman wearing it.

Rather than creating identical gowns or a traditional pageant aesthetic, the styling took inspiration from modern Filipiniana, using structure, translucent fabrics, fluid draping, pleats and movement to translate each woman’s character into fashion.

Some silhouettes expressed discipline and structure. Others used softer layers to represent transition, vulnerability or freedom. Details inspired by careers, passions, family histories and personal turning points gave each look an individual story.

A Launch Designed Like a Living Magazine

That editorial idea extended beyond the runway.

From the moment guests arrived, the event journey was designed to feel like stepping through the pages of a magazine rather than entering a trade-show environment.

The experience moved through different spaces including the Arrival Salon, portrait displays, product experience areas and finally the main editorial runway. The event plan described each zone as revealing another layer of the same story.

Even the arrival experience followed the fashion direction, with modern Filipiniana elements and a more hospitality-led environment replacing conventional smartphone launch visual clutter.

At its center, however, remained the product itself.

The CAMON SLIM 5G is TECNO’s new ultra-slim imaging flagship for the Philippines, combining a 6.39mm ultra-slim body and 6,000mAh battery with a 50MP Sony LYTIA™ 700C main camera, Super-Zoom FlashSnap and TECNO Universal Tone imaging. The idea was not to separate fashion from technology, but to show that for today’s consumers, the two increasingly belong in the same conversation. A phone is not simply something people use. It is something they hold, wear, photograph with and carry through almost every part of their day.

A First Glimpse at Angélica Dass and the Stories Beyond the Runway

The evening also offered a glimpse into another chapter of TECNO’s work with Filipino women through its collaboration with artist and photographer Angélica Dass.

Portraiture was woven into the launch experience as part of a broader exploration of women beyond the labels commonly used to define them. In the event concept, photographed women form part of the emotional spine of the experience, connecting individual portraits with the stories presented throughout the launch.

The Philippine chapter will look more closely at working women, particularly working solo mothers and the people around them, through the lens of diskarte—the adaptability, wisdom and resourcefulness with which women find their own ways forward. Rather than framing these women only through difficulty or sacrifice, the project asks a different question: Who are they beyond the labels placed on them?

More from the Angélica Dass collaboration will be revealed later in October.

Making Technology Feel Closer to Real Life

At its heart, The Living Cover Runway reflects the audience TECNO wants CAMON SLIM 5G to speak to. Modern Filipino women do not live in one role. The same woman can be a professional in the morning, a daughter or mother at home, a creator after work, a friend at night, and still have ambitions that belong only to herself.

The launch did not attempt to present one ideal version of that woman. Instead, it brought different versions of her onto the same runway.

And that may be the clearest expression of “Make It Lighter.” It is not about pretending that life suddenly becomes simple. It is about creating technology, design and experiences that understand how full life already is—and finding thoughtful ways to fit into it.

With CAMON SLIM 5G, TECNO brought that philosophy off the specification sheet and onto a runway, allowing the product to be seen not only as a new smartphone, but as part of the style, movement and everyday life of the women it was designed for.

Because every woman carries her own story, and every woman deserves to be the cover of it.
