Department of Agriculture (DA) IV-CALABARZON, led by Regional Director Arnel V. de Mesa, visited the Payapa Integrated Farm in Brgy. Buho, Amadeo, Cavite to take part in their harvest festival, as well as to deliver production support worth P7,640,625 to farmers’ groups in the municipality on Sept. 17.

The distribution is under the combined allocation of the regional High Value Crops Development Program and the Taal Recovery and Rehabilitation Program.

Director de Mesa said he is glad that even during the coronavirus pandemic, farmers in Amadeo continue to pursue and remain resilient in improving their farms’ food production.

“This pandemic has changed and our way of life is still evolving as the days go by, but it has never changed the resilience and commitment of the agricultural sector to provide the daily needs of the people…The regional office will continue to assist farmers in Amadeo and this will not be the end of DA’s interventions,” the director said.

Reagan A. Borja, Payapa Integrated Farm owner, UPCAFA member, and Buho barangay captain, shared his utmost gratitude for the untiring support of DA to Amadeo farmers.

“My message goes to my fellow farmers. May we strive to improve our farms with the help of DA’s interventions, and may we inspire the future generation to follow their dream of a better life with agriculture,” Borja said.

Amadeo Mayor Hon. Redel John B. Dionisio expressed his appreciation to the regional office for these interventions it brought for the Amadeo farmers.

“Farming is a sector we should focus on, and even during this pandemic we appreciate DA’s full support for our farmers. The spirit of farming in Amadeo is burning bright with these interventions, with more and more people learning to enjoy the beauty of farming,” Mayor Dionisio said.

The P7.5-million intervention received by the Amadeo farmers comprises five kilograms of assorted vegetable seeds, 50 seedling trays, 10 knapsack sprayers, one power sprayer, 10 rolls of plastic mulch, 2,185 bags of organic fertilizers, 2,085 bags of vermicast, 2,300 bags of complete fertilizers, 2,300 bags of muriate of potash, 2,500 packets of assorted cut flowers, and 1,000 bundles of soft pots.
