RCBC, SSS promote convenient digital channels to members

Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC) and the Social Security System (SSS) have jointly launched a digital financial education campaign aimed at educating millions of SSS members on the optimal use of RCBC DiskarTech and ATM Go for their financial transactions. This initiative aims to raise awareness among SSS members about alternative payment channels for enhanced convenience and security.

Lito Villanueva, RCBC’s Executive Vice President and Chief Innovations and Inclusion Officer, said that RCBC DiskarTech stands out as the world’s first multilingual financial inclusion app available in Taglish and Cebuano saying, “SSS members can not only register and open a bank account using their SSS IDs but also pay voluntary contributions through DiskarTech.”

In addition to bill payment features, Villanueva added that users can access cardless withdrawals, bank transfers, airtime loading, a competitive 6.5 percent annual savings interest rate, QRph payments, insurance services, and even apply for loans.

“SSS actively promoted this collaboration on social media platforms, urging its members to download the app. Opening an RCBC DiskarTech account requires only a government-issued ID and a registered phone number, with no maintaining balance or initial deposit needed. The app is available for download on Google Play Store and Apple App Store,” he said.

Villanueva added that SSS also advocated for RCBC ATM Go as an alternative channel for members and pensioners to access their benefits or loan releases using BancNet-powered cards. RCBC ATM Go represents the Philippines’ first and largest network of grassroots-based and bank-agnostic mobile-point-of-service ATM terminals, offering 100 percent nationwide coverage.

He explained that these strategically located ATM GO agents in rural and remote communities provide seamless, convenient, and 24/7 access to basic banking services for Filipinos in these areas adding, “Apart from cash withdrawal services, RCBC ATM Go enables users to pay bills, purchase loads, conduct bank transfers, receive remittances, and soon withdraw funds using internationally-registered cards.”

“RCBC has been a trusted partner of the Philippine government and local units in making digital finance accessible, relevant, functional, and empowering for Filipinos in rural and remote areas,” he added.

RCBC was also awarded Best Disbursement Partner for Digital Bank category by the SSS at the 2023 Balikat ng Bayan Awards held in celebration of its 66th foundation anniversary last year.

Villanueva expressed gratitude to SSS for this collaboration in digital financial inclusion. He highlighted the significance of forging cross-industry partnerships to achieve national goals and aspirations, further extending the benefits of inclusive digital finance to more communities. The joint initiative further solidifies the digital agenda of the Marcos Administration.
