Megawide, Splice Sleeve Japan Ltd. to bolster construction efficiency with advanced rebar coupler technology

Megawide Construction Corporation (“Megawide” or the “Company”) has officially sealed a partnership with Splice Sleeve Japan Ltd. (“Splice Sleeve”), a global leader in rebar coupler technology, through a ceremonial contract signing, held last December 16.  

This collaboration aimed at integrating Splice Sleeve’s advanced rebar coupler technology into Megawide’s construction projects including large-ticket infrastructure developments.   

The partnership banners Megawide’s thrust for innovation, seeking to enhance construction efficiency and structural integrity, and align with global best practices and standards in engineering and sustainability. 

Megawide Chairman and CEO Edgar Saavedra and Splice Sleeve President and CEO Shigetaka Kumagai, along with other key executives, led the ceremonial signing, which highlighted the commitment of both companies to drive innovation in the construction industry. 

Driving Innovation with Splice Sleeve Technology 

Splice Sleeve’s rebar coupler technology is renowned worldwide for its efficiency, reliability, and compliance with international standards. This technology facilitates faster and more secure connections between rebars, reducing labor time and material waste while ensuring structural performance. 

“Megawide is always driven to evolve and adopt innovative construction methodologies,” said Saavedra. “The use of precast and rebar couplers allows us to build stronger, more sustainable, and faster infrastructure optimizing our processes and contributing to building a First-World Philippines. Precast is not only a better product but also offers competitive pricing for external clients.” 

Kumagai also expressed enthusiasm for the collaboration and shared “We are elated to team up with Megawide as we share the same commitment to innovation and excellence. Together, we aim to set new standards in construction efficiency and structural reliability.” 

Enhancing Megawide’s EPC capabilities 

The integration of Splice Sleeve technology is expected to enhance Megawide’s end-to-end Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) services. With applications across a diverse portfolio of projects the partnership is expected to create significant value for stakeholders.
