DAKILA BRINGS BACK BAYANI BA’TO?: A Youth and Educators Forum Nationwide

Share

DAKILA, through its learning institution Active Vista, proudly announces the return of Bayani Ba’To?, a youth and educators forum designed to challenge historical narratives, provoke critical thinking, and reclaim the people’s agency in shaping the future. In partnership with TBA Studios, this edition centers on the upcoming historical film QUEZON, continuing a collaborative tradition of using cinema as a tool for civic education and cultural organizing.

This milestone marks the third collaboration between DAKILA, Active Vista, and TBA Studios through the Bayaniverse, a journey that began a decade ago with Heneral Luna, followed by Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral. Through the Bayani Ba’To? forums for both films, DAKILA and Active Vista have helped shape two generations of young Filipinos into critical thinkers, engaged citizens, and cultural workers.

Anchored on the theme “MLQ: Mga Lingering Questions on Leaders, Legacy, and Liberty,” this year’s edition of Bayani Ba’To? invites audiences to interrogate the life and legacy of Manuel L. Quezon — a story that goes beyond hero worship to examine the complexities of leadership, power, and political legacy. QUEZON does not merely recount historical events; it explores the contradictions of Quezon’s rise, his political ambitions, and the cost of his decisions on the nation’s path to independence, drawing sharp parallels to the political realities that continue to shape Philippine society today.

The forum features an exclusive 10-minute preview of the upcoming film QUEZON, followed by a conversation with the cast and crew, and a panel discussion with historians, educators, and youth leaders.

Now on its fourth installment, Bayani Ba’To? continues its legacy of critical engagement through film and dialogue, following previous forums featuring Heneral Luna, Hermano Pule, and Goyo: Ang Batang Heneral.

The 2025 Bayani Ba’To? Tour will reach 10 key cities across the country:

JULY

  • July 26 – Metro Manila

AUGUST

  • August 2 – Dumaguete
  • August 9 – Bacolod

  • August 23 – Metro Manila

SEPTEMBER

Bayani Ba’To? is a platform that questions dominant narratives, sparks critical conversations, and sharpens the political consciousness of the youth through the lives of our national heroes. These forums aim to develop a new generation of cultural organizers committed to truth, justice, and meaningful change.

Quezon’s story is not one of unquestioned heroism; it is a portrait of power, politics, and the contradictions of leadership. In a time of curated legacies and performative governance, we must go beyond the myth-making. It’s time to interrogate not just our leaders, but our own role in shaping the future of this country.
