STATEMENT OF CONDEMNATION
Concerned Artists of the Philippines – Bicol Chapter

October 20, 2025

The Concerned Artists of the Philippines – Bicol Chapter strongly condemns the shooting attack on journalist Noel Bellen Samar in Guinobatan, Albay, on Monday morning, October 20, 2025.

This violent act is an affront not only to one individual but to freedom of expression and the people’s right to truth and accountability. An attack on a journalist is an attack on all who speak, create, and struggle for a society where voices are heard and stories are told without fear.

We stand in solidarity with Noel Bellen Samar, his family, and the broader media community as they seek justice. We echo the call for a swift, transparent, and impartial investigation and ensure that the perpetrator and those behind the attack are held accountable.

Violence and intimidation have long been used to silence artists, journalists, and truth-tellers who dare to challenge abuse and corruption. We refuse to be silenced. Freedom of the press, artistic freedom, and freedom of expression are inseparable pillars of a democratic and humane society.

We call on fellow artists, cultural workers, and citizens to stand with the media and defend our collective right to speak truth to power.

Justice for Noel Bellen Samar.
Justice for all who use their voice for truth and the people.
