Heads up, holiday shoppers: Get discounted MRT-3 rides when you use GCash

Share

With the holiday rush officially starting, here’s a tip to instantly save time and grab a little extra cash: You can now use GCash to pay for your MRT-3 trips, and for a limited time, you’ll get a PHP 5 fare discount!

Under the GCash Murang Sakay promo, you automatically get PHP 5 off your fare when you pay with GCash from December 8–22. No registration needed—the discount is deducted instantly. Note: P28 is initially deducted upon entry, and the change will be returned to your GCash wallet after you exit.

If you haven’t set it up yet, here are three ways you can use GCash to pay for your MRT-3 rides:

  • Tap to Pay: Use your NFC-enabled Android phone as a digital ticket after a one-time activation on the app.
  • GCash Visa Card: Tap the card upon entry and exit, working like the traditional ticket system, ideal for situations with a spotty signal or low battery.
  • Scan GCash Commute QR: Generate a Commute QR code on the GCash app, which acts as a digital ticket without needing station details.
