Mapúa University affirmed its position as an education innovator with its recent win of the “AI Innovation Award” at Coursera Connect Manila 2025 held last October 5, 2025, at the Sheraton Manila Hotel in Pasay.
The award recognized the university’s seamless and effective integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its curriculum through its pioneering “Introduction to Generative AI and Prompt Engineering” course.
The two-month course aimed to promote Generative AI (GenAI) literacy across all segments of the organization, from students, faculty, and staff, to ensure that they could understand, apply, and ethically leverage generative AI.
At the same time, the online course equips students with industry-aligned AI skills that have become increasingly necessary in today’s job market.

Although it was challenging to develop the course given the tight timeline and scale of curriculum delivery, Mapúa utilized Coursera’s Course Builder to create a customized course design swiftly and the AI Coach tool to provide real-time, personalized support to thousands of learners.
To date, a total of 11,274 learners, composed of students, faculty, and staff, have undergone the “Introduction to Generative AI and Prompt Engineering” course, with an exceptional completion rate of over 85 percent in the flagship GenAI course.
