VIA GRAPHIC PLUS — Philippine motorcycle sales returned to growth in the third quarter of 2026, with members of the Motorcycle Development Program Participants Association (MDPPA) recording 524,860 units sold from July to September, up 8.1 percent from 485,690 units during the same period in 2025.
The latest performance brought total motorcycle sales from January to September 2026 to 1,464,388 units, up 5.1 percent from 1,392,744 units during the same nine-month period last year.
September was the strongest month recorded from January to September 2026, with successive gains in August and September helping lift the industry back into positive territory after the slower second quarter.
The quarterly results show the changing pace of the market throughout the year. Motorcycle sales grew 11.6 percent in the first quarter before declining 4.2 percent in the second quarter. The 8.1 percent expansion in the third quarter indicates renewed momentum heading into the final three months of the year.
Automatic motorcycles remained the industry’s primary growth driver during the quarter, accounting for approximately 73.6 percent of all motorcycles sold by MDPPA members during the third quarter.
With cumulative sales maintaining year on year growth and Q3 showing a clear recovery from the previous quarter, the latest figures point to sustained demand for motorcycles as the industry enters the final stretch of 2026.
“The rebound in the third quarter is an encouraging sign for the industry, especially with the stronger performance we saw in August and September. This renewed momentum gives us confidence as we enter the final quarter, and we remain optimistic that the industry is on track to reach its sales targets by the end of 2026,” said MDPPA President Erwin Estrada.
