With the theme “KAWAYAN: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon,” the Department of Agriculture Regional Field Office 3 and Philippine Bamboo Industry Development Council celebrated World Bamboo Day last Sept. 18.

Pursuant to the Resolution No. 197 of the 18th Congress declaring September as the Bamboo Month for the entire country and as part of the Nationwide Bamboo Planting Kick-off activity, DA RFO 3 conducted a photo exhibit in order to showcase different bamboo food and non-food products.

This activity sought to encourage farmers and bamboo growers to promote bamboo planting materials and patronize locally made bamboo products.

The Department of Agriculture is committed to take part in the development of the Philippine Bamboo Industry.

Bamboo was declared by Secretary William Dar as a high-value crop to strengthen the promotion of the local bamboo industry. (DA-RFO III, RAFIS)
