Security Bank Foundation donates disaster-resilient school building in Ozamiz City

Security Bank Foundation Inc. (SBFI), the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) arm of Security Bank Corporation donated a two-story, six-classroom building to Felipe Carreon Central School in Ozamiz City, Misamis Occidental as part of its “Build a School, Build a Nation” initiative.

The donation comes a year after the devastating Christmas Day flooding, brought about by heavy rains which wreaked havoc on the school’s infrastructure.

Rigorous measures were implemented to reinforce the building’s stability through comprehensive soil testing and structural analysis prior to construction.

Elevated a meter above the ground, this structure adheres to the highest construction standards and aligns with the Department of Education’s guidelines for classroom construction.

Security Bank Foundation allowed us to bring the Asenso Ozamiz vision to life, using education as a powerful tool to empower the local community. We pledge to be responsible stewards to ensure the preservation of the classrooms so that it can benefit future generations,” said Dr. Nimfa R. Lago, CESO VI, the Divisions Superintendent of the Department of Education Ozamiz City Schools.

We are deeply grateful for SBFI’s mission to create the best learning environment for the children of the country. The initiative also helps the LGU of Ozamiz City in its unwavering pledge to provide nothing short of the highest quality of education,” said Mayor Henry F. Oaminal Jr. through representative Councilor Sancho S. Oaminal Jr.

The donation to Ozamiz City marks Security Bank Foundation’s 727th classroom donation nationwide across 129 schools in 73 cities and municipalities. As the year draws to a close, the Foundation is anticipating a grand total of 771 classrooms donated to 135 schools in 79 cities and municipalities, solidifying its commitment to advancing education across the nation.

Should any of our benefactors require major repairs for our donated school buildings, we will be glad to assist them. It is our hope that the legacy of SBFI is in the improvement of the learning conditions and academic performance of our public school principals, teachers, and students throughout the country,” said SBFI Chairman Rafael F. Simpao, Jr.
