Laguna Province Awards AP Renewables Inc. as Top Tax Payer

Laguna Province headed by its Governor, Hon. Ramil Hernandez awarded AP Renewables Inc. (APRI) as one of Laguna’s top tax payers last Mar. 15, 2024 at the Laguna Cultural Center. The awarding was held during the Laguna Stakeholder’s Summit in conjunction with the celebration of the annual Anilag Festival of Laguna.  

As one of the biggest sources of renewable energy in the Philippines, APRI was nominated by its two host LGUs – Bay and Calauan for the award. The summit was also attended by Senators Imee Marcos and Mark Villar. In her speech, Senator Imee Marcos highlighted that her father, former president Ferdinand Marcos Sr., introduced a decree (Presidential Decree 1111 of 1973) designating 162,000 hectares of land as a geothermal reserve. She emphasized that this decree significantly contributed to enhancing the Philippines’ energy supply. Furthermore, she proudly noted that the company (APRI) operating the geothermal power plant is one of Laguna’s top tax payers. 

APRI, through its President Jeffrey Estrella, shared “We are honored to be recognized as a top taxpayer by Laguna and the municipalities of Bay and Calauan, underscoring our commitment to contributing positively to the community where we operate.”

On December 15, 2023, the town of Bay also awarded APRI with the same distinction during their annual Gawad Parangal. The town of Sto. Tomas, on the other hand, awarded APRI as its Top 8 Taxpayer last September 17, 2023. 

Calauan’s Top Tax Payer. APRI was also nominated by Calauan for being its top tax payer. Together with Calauan’s Local Economic Development and Investment Officer Leo Cairo (2nd from right), APRI received the award from the Province of Laguna. 

Sto. Tomas Top Tax Payer: Led by Santo Tomas Mayor Hon. Arth Jhun Aguilar-Marasigan (2nd from right) and Vice Mayor Hon. Catherine Jaurigue-Perez (2nd from left), APRI represented by Jun San Juan and Engr. Antonio Layog  (center), was recognized as one of the city’s Top Taxpayers last September 7, 2023 at the City hall Grounds of Santo Tomas.  Also in the photo are Joelyn Manabat, OIC City Assessor (leftmost) and Jenette Rubico, City Treasurer. 

Bay Top Tax Payer.  The municipality of Bay gave recognition to AP Renewables Inc (APRI) as its Top 1 Tax Payer for 2023. Headed by Bay’s Municipal Administrator Atty. Joanna Patricia Padrid, (3rd from left) the plaque of recognition was handed over to Wendy Bautista, APRI’s External Relations Manager and Nomer Ampat, APRI’s Operations Manager (4th and 5th from L). Together with Atty. Padrid are ( from L to R): Riszel R. Biscocho-OIC Municipal Accountant, May Facunla – Municipal Treasurer, Christierose Jireh Betia – Municipal Planning and Development and Helen Magsino – Municipal Budget Officer.
