The yearly celebration aims to raise funds to support the growth of ice skating in the country.
The annual Carols on Ice event returned to SM Skating Mall of Asia, captivating audiences with its spectacular ice skating performances. Organized by the Philippine Skating Union (PHSU) in partnership with SM Skating, this year’s “Rhythm of the Icons” theme brought the magic of music to life on ice. The event also raised funds to promote the development of ice skating in the Philippines.
A legacy of ice skating excellence
SM Megamall’s pioneering ice rink, opened in 1992, sparked a passion for ice sports in the Philippines. Today, SM Skating’s Olympic-sized rinks in key malls across the country, including SM Mall of Asia and SM Seaside City Cebu, serve as training grounds for national figure skaters and ice hockey players. These facilities have been instrumental in nurturing homegrown talent and contributing to the country’s success in international competitions.
A night of spectacular performances
World-class skaters, including two-time Winter Olympian Michael Martinez, 2024 National Champions Maxine Bautista and Paolo Borromeo, 2022-2023 National Champion Sofia Frank, and GMA Sparkle artist and national athlete Skye Chua, took the stage, performing graceful routines set to the timeless tunes of legends like The Beatles, Queen, Michael Jackson, Beyonce, and Taylor Swift.
Inspiring future generations
The event served as the grand finale of the Philippine National Figure Skating Championships, showcasing the exceptional talent of Filipino skaters. As the curtain fell on another successful Carols on Ice, it left a lasting impression on the audience, inspiring a new generation of ice skating enthusiasts.
