Reading Literacy Activity held at Tahanan ng Kabataan Laguna

MAGDALENA, Laguna – The year starter of the Reading Literacy Program of the Laguna Provincial Library (LPL), in partnership with the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO), was recently conducted at the Tahanan ng Kabataan Laguna (TNKL) in Brgy. Bungkol, with sixteen (16) young adults as participants.

Ms. Dennise Napiza, Social Welfare Officer III offered a brief, inspiring message; while Mr. Mark Anthony Gonzaga discussed reading literacy and its importance for each individual.

To inspire the young adults, Ms. Vanessa Niones read the book “Apat na Mata,” a story by Eugene Evasco and illustrated by Redge Abos.  It is a story of a boy who has difficulty seeing things from afar and pretends to notice them in order to avoid being taunted.

This year, Provincial Librarian Ms. Justina P. Garcia will introduce the enhanced TNKL Reading Literacy Program. It will focus on vocabulary enrichment, spelling and writing to develop better reading skills of the residents. (Article and photo: LPL/Laguna PIO)
