EMBASSY EXPRESS — On 6 March 2026, Minister for Economic Affairs YOKOTA Naobumi attended the handover ceremony for thirteen (13) generators with trailers to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG).
The provision of these generators through Official Development Assistance (ODA) will enable power to be supplied from these units to PCG patrol vessels while they are docked. This is expected to improve the operational rates of the patrol vessels by reducing the load on the generators installed on the vessels themselves.
In his remarks, Minister Yokota stated that cooperation between Japan and the Philippines in maritime safety will be further strengthened through exchanges in this field. He expressed Japan’s aim to promote a cooperative relationship with the Philippines based on a comprehensive approach combining the provision of equipment and expertise with joint exercises.
