When operations are active during mild to moderate rain, we want to ensure those who choose to log on are fairly compensated for the extra time and care required.”
To ensure safe operations, foodpanda proactively monitors regional weather advisories and local road conditions, automatically pausing or restricting delivery zones whenever severe weather or flooding poses a hazard.
During mild to moderate rain when driving remains safe, the platform supports riders through enhanced trip top-ups of an additional ₱10 to ₱15 per order. This extra pay accounts for slower traffic, necessary detours, and general road friction for those who voluntarily choose to log on. Additionally, riders receive advance app notifications about forecasted rain so they can plan their schedules without penalty.
Complementing these seasonal support programs, foodpanda also continues its year-round investment in rider preparedness through nationwide safety training. Ka-panda riders are equipped with defensive riding techniques, emergency preparedness, and safe riding practices during adverse weather.
As severe weather naturally leads to longer delivery times, foodpanda encourages customers to prioritize rider safety by exercising patience and keeping contact details updated for seamless communication. Customers who wish to show appreciation for their delivery partners can also tip directly through the app upon checkout, with 100% of all tips transferred directly to the rider.
Through these combined safety protocols, financial top-ups, and operational adjustments, foodpanda remains dedicated to upholding a safe, fair, and supportive platform for its delivery workforce throughout the rainy season.
