VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | PASIG CITY, Philippines — Despite the inclement weather, SM Foundation, through its emergency disaster response program Operation Tulong Express (OPTE), extended relief assistance to 350 families or approximately 1,200 residents displaced by a fire in Rosemarie Lane, Brgy. Kapitolyo, Pasig City on 6 August 2026, providing Kalinga Packs to help affected families begin recovering from the incident.

The fire broke out in the afternoon of 29 July 2026 and quickly escalated to third alarm which razed over 100 houses in the area. Currently, the displaced families and residents are taking shelter in evacuation centers.

Employee-volunteers prepare the Kalinga Packs to be distributed to the fire-affected residents. OPTE is SM Foundation’s disaster response and relief initiative dedicated to provide immediate assistance to communities.

SM Foundation mobilized volunteers and employees from SM Center Pasig to distribute Kalinga Packs containing ready-to-eat food and water to affected households.

The effort is part of OPTE’s continuing mission to respond to communities affected by calamities and crises nationwide as a program of the social good arm of the SM Group.

OPTE remains one of the ways SM Foundation extends the SM Group’s bayanihan spirit to Filipinos in need, especially during their most difficult moments.

Since its activation, OPTE has served as SM Foundation’s frontline response to disasters nationwide, having distributed to affected communities across the country in partnership with SM Supermalls and SM Markets.
