VIA GRAPHIC PLUS — SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime) earned 14 distinctions at the 31st Apolinario Mabini Awards, building on the 10 honors it received in the previous cycle for advancing accessibility and inclusion across its malls and office developments.
Established by the Philippine Foundation for the Rehabilitation of the Disabled, Inc. in 1974, the Apolinario Mabini Awards is a biennial program recognizing organizations and developments that advance the rights and welfare of persons with disabilities.
“These awards affirm our commitment to creating spaces where everyone can participate fully and independently. As our portfolio grows, accessibility will remain central to how we design, build and operate our developments,” said Jeffrey C. Lim, President of SM Prime.
SM Supermalls earned 12 distinctions covering mall expansions and improvements to existing properties, reflecting its sustained focus on creating more accessible spaces for persons with disabilities.
SM City Bicutan and SM City Fairview received Special Awards on Expansion for Substantial Compliance with Batas Pambansa Blg. 344. SM City Dasmariñas, SM City San Pablo, SM City Telabastagan, SM City Urdaneta Central and SM City Tarlac were recognized with Special Awards for Correcting Deficiencies.
SM City East Ortigas, SM City Sto. Tomas, SM City Bacolod North Block Extension and SM Center Angono received Bronze Awards, while SM City Roxas earned a Silver Award.
SM Offices received two Bronze Awards for Three E-Com Center and Five E-Com Center, affirming its commitment to developing workplaces that are accessible and inclusive by design.
The two developments are part of the six-building E-Com Campus within the Mall of Asia Complex, one of the country’s leading business districts and home to major global enterprises. The campus combines Grade A office spaces, sustainable building features and seamless connectivity with accessible design, enabling employees, clients and visitors of varying abilities to navigate its spaces safely, comfortably and independently.
Batas Pambansa Blg. 344, or the Accessibility Law, was enacted on February 25, 1983, to improve access and mobility for persons with disabilities by requiring public and private buildings, utilities and transportation services to provide features such as ramps, railings and designated parking spaces.
