VIA GRAPHIC PLUS | Quezon City, PH (August 2026) — The Tribal Communities Association of the Philippines (TRICAP), Inc., the country’s pioneering national Indigenous Peoples organization founded in 1986, announces a series of meaningful activities throughout August in celebration of the International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples (IDWIP) and the National Indigenous Peoples Day, observed annually every 9 August.
With the support of government agencies, educational institutions, corporate partners, volunteer organizations, and civil society groups, TRICAP aims to honor the rich cultural heritage, traditions, knowledge systems, and invaluable contributions of Indigenous Peoples while strengthening partnerships that promote education, volunteerism, humanitarian service, and inclusive development.
The month-long observance will feature school supply packing and distribution for Indigenous students, educational forums, volunteer engagement activities, commemorative celebrations, community outreach programs, humanitarian relief operations, and participation in national volunteerism initiatives.
Among the highlights are TRICAP’s partnership activities with IBM Impact, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), De La Salle Santiago Zobel School, the United Nations Association of the Philippines (UNAP), the Ayala Foundation, Hotel Sogo, Apo View Hotel, Golden Hearts Missionary, and Goodera, whose collective support reflects a shared commitment to empowering Indigenous communities.
One of the major humanitarian initiatives is PROJECT KAPWA, a relief operation for earthquake-affected Indigenous families in Malapatan, Sarangani, to be conducted on 19 August 2026 with the support of Hotel Sogo, Apo View Hotel, Goodera, the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples (NCIP), IPS HEAD Datu Jaime Lantingan and Fulung Titus Mandalo.
TRICAP also encourages Indigenous Peoples residing in Metro Manila and nearby provinces to participate in the various activities and join the celebration of Indigenous identity, resilience, and unity.
“Our observance is more than a celebration—it is a reaffirmation of our collective responsibility to uphold the dignity, rights, and aspirations of Indigenous Peoples.
Through strong partnerships and volunteerism, we continue to strengthen Indigenous voices from roots to rights,” said Bo-i Limpayen Jennifer Pia Sibug-Las, National President of TRICAP.
As the country commemorates these significant occasions, TRICAP invites the public to stand in solidarity with Indigenous communities by participating in the scheduled activities and supporting initiatives that promote cultural preservation, education, humanitarian service, and sustainable development.
